Description:

This project has been made possible thanks to generous grants from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources, Energy Harvest Grant and the Metropolitan Edison Company Sustainable Energy Fund of Berks County Community Foundation.
The Schuylkill River Greenway Association, owner of the trail right-of-way granted permission to install the lighting along the river walkway.

In order to assure an enjoyable and safe walkway, SELUX Corp. was selected

to supply 14 of its SonneLiter solar fixtures to illuminate approx. 1,300 feet of the trail.  SELUX has always been dedicated to environmentally sound developments; making them an ideal partner in this project.  Using the innovative development of the SonneLiter, RiverPlace is using the most recent energy saving lamp and optic system technologies to power low wattage metal halide lamps than any other solutions on the market.

The project team was led by Jermaine Edwards and includes several lighting experts as well as other volunteers from the community. The team is reviewing options for lighting several locations, including but not limited to the Schuylkill River Bridge, the Amphitheater Park, and the West Shore Trail and Boardwalk.
